Although I was very tired and sleepy, today’s lessons were very impactful.
Why don’t I get everything I pray for?
Because God is not a genie.
The weather has been so smokingly hot until that day when it finally rained.
And I went to Dev’s church yesterday. It only had a small congregation about 150 members but they were so hungry and the presence of God was so strong!
And their food was super cheap.. Such a wide spread and it didn’t even cost $10.
I helped to arrange the bulletins. It was quite nicely printed.
And this picture was taken today after service. The rest of the cell group was not around..
I am quite happy with my preaching today.
When I was still preparing my sermon yesterday night, I was quite calm and relaxed, but during worship today, I suddenly got very nervous and tensed! I began to pray softly and took lots of deep breaths!
It started out at a good pace, I managed to do a good introduction and build-up.. But I still got rather nervous and ended up talking quite fast.
I am still happy! My team member gave me an assuring pat on the back.
And, thank you Kexin for letting me use your structure for my sermon.
And thank you God for giving me the chance to preach today. I pray for many many more chances!
Anyway, the remaining days of the month will be quite busy for me.

Life is good!
Dev came to evaluate our cell group meeting just now.
He said this to me.
“You’re a very direct person.. You know your objectives. You have all your points ready, so you just come to bam-bam-bam and then you close the meeting. I feel that it’s good! Keep building on this.”
His comments made me very happy, but I know that I have to keep building on my way of presenting my points. I talk very fast when I’m nervous.
Nonetheless, still praise God for a good meeting today. At least we all can learn from our mistakes.
Gideon used an army of 300 to defeat 120,000 Midianites. (Judges 7)
300 against 120,000 is equivalent to the odds of 1:400.
And this story is really an amazing example for me to set my life upon, because Gideon’s army emerged victorious and Gideon remained humble.
The most important point that impacted me was how Gideon actually decided to continue fighting even when he only had 300 soldiers armed with nothing except pitchers and torches. He had the courage and faith to fight against all odds.
No matter what our situation is, even when what seems to be like a losing war, God can turn it around and we can emerge.
I’m so fascinated. I am going to use this story for my preaching next week.
