RunNUS 09
Although the website says that the route was 12km, I personally felt that the route was much shorter. Maybe only about 10km?
The run was delayed for some reason. They only started deploying the marshallers at around 7.45am when the run was scheduled to start at 7.30am.
I heard a lot about this RunNUS because apparently, the route consisted of a lot of upslopes and these upslopes are so steep that they’re almost vertical. But seriously, how bad can 12km be?
So I underestimated the 12km. I started out on a rather fast pace and by the time I hit Pasir Panjang Road, I was already out of breath. It got worse when I hit the upslope at Pepys Road (Go check it out, it’s insane!!).
I started walking and was taking a short break at the water point when suddenly this guy in sunglasses ran past me. It was Mok! Then Colin Tung was a short distance behind him, also sprinting his way up.
Then it started raining. It was my motivation. I don’t like running when the weather is too hot, which explains why I usually run at night.
The rain helped me a lot and so I continued running and completed in approximately 1h 10mins.
I don’t know my exact timing because I forgot to stop my watch after I crossed the finishing.
Not a bad run, but not a good run either. Good scenery though. There was this part at the top of the bridge which offered a good view, and of course, the plenty of NUS girls who were there..
