Church organized this small-scale 5km race at East Coast Park this morning.
Prior to signing up, I told myself that this is a really good opportunity for myself to finish off with a good position because there aren’t many good runners around.
My friends all encouraged me to go for it, and so I went this morning even though I hardly knew anyone else there. True enough, there were only about 150 people who took part.
The best thing was, I had coffee before cell group last night and the coffee kept me awake until 2.30am before I finally fell asleep. I guess I only slept for around 3 hours?
So anyway, I started off the race rather badly because I was trying to keep up with this dude who was really taking very huge strides. I overestimated myself and was going too fast for my own good.
It was just a short race so I told myself to endure and push, even though I could feel my body screaming out to stop and walk.. And I could hear the steps of the person behind me trying to catch up. The last 1km was the most torturous but looking back, the feeling of satisfaction is worth every single drop of sweat.
And so, I finished within the Top 5 positions. Felt really good when my name and timing was announced. I heard some people wow-ing when my timing of 22:13 was announced.
Not the best around, but definitely my best for now. 😀
