I can’t remember when was the last time I served, but I have officially left Security Ministry as of 23 July 2011, which is, ironically, the Church’s ministry weekend.
I have been with the ministry for the past 6 years, and I can safely say that I have dedicated most of my growing up years serving in the ministry.
I had my fair share of negative experiences – Church staff, church members, members of the public. I guess conflict is a thing that makes us human. I can remember a lot of incidents from both Jurong West and Expo, some that I have handled very well, and others that are not so.
But having said that, my entire journey with the ministry is more of a positive one. I have seen a lot, experienced much, but learnt even more. It is here that I made most of my friends, people that became even closer to me over time. I had lots of fun serving together with the rest of the team – meeting new people, celebrities, following Pastor and serving alongside with him, even if it meant going overseas to Kuala Lumpur and Taiwan.
Security Ministry is that first ministry that I joined ever since I have been in church, but it will definitely not be my last. There was a point in my life when I ever wondered if I would be serving in this ministry for the rest of my life, and my answer at that point was ‘Yes.’
However, progress is about moving from one place to another.
And I guess it is about time.
I love, and I thank Security Ministry,
Without which, I wouldn’t have been who I am today.
