Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
I stayed at home and watched service online today.
Pastor showed a video of the Taiwan Youth Camp which was organized 2 weeks back, and as I was watching the video, the presence of God filled my room. I began to be reminded of the numerous encounters with God that I had during the 9 days in Taiwan. The times we spent with Pastor Kong praying and worshipping together in the various sessions, the times we had our own morning devotion, and God also reminded me of the times when I was touched during my SOT days. I felt that I really miss the times in Taiwan a lot, and I miss God even more.
To be frank, I have been very disconnected with God for the past 2 weeks in Tekong. I found it a struggle to pray and read my Bible because I hardly have the time or opportunity to do so. Most of the nights were spent washing clothes, preparing the equipment for the next day’s programs, and before you know it, it’s lights out already.
I’m not complaining about National Service. It’s tough, but it’s still within limits.
In fact, National Service has strengthened my relationship with God because it made me realise that I cannot live without prayer and the Bible. The past 2 weeks were horrible.
Without prayer and the Bible,
I am weak.
I feel empty.
I am unable to conduct my behaviour properly.
But with God,
I am stronger.
I am filled with the Holy Spirit.
I am able to shine as the salt and the light.
I’m not going to stop my journey with my Heavenly Father.
